Dual-Task Specific Training or Conventional Physiotherapeutic Interventions, Which one is more Effective?

Background: Physiotherapeutic interventions play a crucial role in motor re-learning and functional recovery for stroke patients with upper and lower limb motor impairments. Among these interventions, dual-task training (DTT) has demonstrated significant effectiveness in enhancing the functional recovery of stroke patients. Objective: This study aims to compare the effectiveness of DTT and conventional physical therapy in ambulating right-hemiplegic stroke patients.Material and Methods: A randomized control trial (RCT) was conducted at the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Saidu group of Teaching Hospital, 2nd March 2020 to 3rd August 2020. Chronic right-hemiplegic stroke patients meeting set inclusion criteria were randomly assigned to two groups: the treatment group (TG) receiving DTT and the control group (CG) undergoing conventional physical therapy. DTT interventions included walking forward, backward, and sideways on a smooth surface while holding an 80-gram sandbag. The CG received conventional physiotherapy involving mat activities, strengthening, stretching exercises, and ambulation/gait training. Pre- and post-tests collected clinical data analyzed on SPSS 22 included spatial and temporal variables, 10-Meter Walk Test (10MWT), Time Up & Go Test (TUG), step length, cadence, cycle time, and stride length. Results: Out of 18 patients, each group had 50%, comprising 5 males (28%) and 4 females (22%). The mean age in CG was 57.20± 5.20, and in TG, it was 57.27± 6.10 years. Baseline clinical parameters were nearly identical between groups (P>0.05). Post-test scores revealed significant improvements in spatial and temporal gait variables, 10MWT score, cadence, step length, stride, and cycle time in TG compared to CG (P<0.05). Conclusion: Dual-task training and conventional physical therapy both significantly enhance the functional ability of right-hemiplegic patients across all gait temporal and spatial parameters. Assessment of Quality of Life of Parents of Children with Cerebral Palsy

Background: Cerebral palsy is a term used to describe a broad spectrum of motor disability which is non progressive and is caused by damage to the brain at or around birth. Care of a child with cerebral palsy is a source of tension and struggle for parents and causes many problems in meeting the child’s needs. Understanding the quality of life of this category of parents , will contribute entire and sufficient physiotherapeutic interventions by various techniques and examine what structural changes could be made to increase parent satisfaction. Study Design: This study is a cross sectional study approach to assess the quality of life of these parents in Pune. A sample of 30 parents of children of cerebral palsy age 3-17 years was selected through convenient sampling. Data were collected using WHO-QOL BREF, Parental stress index, Beck depression inventory questionnaire, focusing on quality of life, stress and depression of parents. Method: 30 Participants were selected based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Convenient sampling was done. Informed consent was obtained before data collection. Demographic details were recorded, and participants responded to the questionnaire, focusing on physical health, psychological health, social relationship and environmental barriers, stress and depression level. Descriptive statistics analyses were conducted to analyze the data. Results: The result showed as compare to father mother experienced lower quality of life, average depression level and increased stress level. This finding emphasizes the quality of life is severely affected suggesting the need to have family- centered approach for the management of children with cerebral palsy and evaluate unique challenges and experiences of parents to improve communication and support. Conclusion: This study concludes that the Quality of Life in Mothers is lower than that of Fathers of Cerebral Palsy child.

Effects of a low, medium, and high-intensity aquatic physiotherapy protocol on functional and biochemical parameters in individuals with knee osteoarthritis: protocol for a crossover randomized controlled trial

Background Knee osteoarthritis affects the performance of daily activities, independence, and quality of life. The etiopathogenesis of this condition considers the mechanisms of activation of metalloproteinase and reactive oxygen species production pathways. Metalloproteinases-3 (MMP-3) and Glutathione Peroxidase (GPx) may be responsible for cartilage destruction. Aquatic physiotherapy promotes a positive impact on the clinical picture of osteoarthritis, and this study presents an intervention protocol that aims to evaluate the effects of a single session of different aquatic physiotherapy modalities on the biochemical and functional behavior of patients with knee osteoarthritis. Methods This will be a crossover randomized controlled trial in which 15 individuals will be submitted to three aquatic physiotherapy modalities with a minimum 15-day wash-out period in patients over 50 years old and diagnosed with OA in at least one knee, presence of pain and at least one functional dysfunction for at least 6 months, absence of physical limitation that prevents the exercise protocol from being performed, Kellgren and Lawrence ranking between I and IV, walk independently and without auxiliary device. Variations in the concentrations of MMP-3 and GPx in peripheral blood, pain, edema, and flexibility resulting from the three aquatic physiotherapeutic interventions will be evaluated both pre- and immediate post-intervention. The reference group will be submitted to the same aquatic physiotherapy protocols, however, only the biochemical parameters and the self-perception questionnaires will be evaluated. Peran Fisioterapi Pada Individu Dengan Hemiparesis Sinistra Post Stroke : A Case Study

Introduction: Stroke occurs when the blood supply to the brain is blocked and blood vessels in the brain burst. The brain can't get the blood and oxygen it needs, so brain cells die. In this case, the patient complained of a feeling of weakness and heaviness in the left side of the body, which made it difficult for him to carry out everyday activities. Objective: To determine the role of physical therapy in individuals with left hemiparesis after stroke on muscle strength, spasticity, and functional ability using infrared intervention, electrical stimulation, and exercise therapy. Method: Subjective and objective examinations were carried out, followed by physiotherapeutic intervention in 3 weeks. Results: After physiotherapeutic intervention, the results showed an increase muscle strength using manual muscle testing (MMT) of  the hip muscle group T1=2 to T3=2+, the knee muscle group T1=2 to T3=-3. Reduced muscle tone according to the Asworth scale in the shoulder area T1=1+ to T3=1, as well as functional ability according to the Barthel index with results from T1=65 to T3=70. Conclusion: Physiotherapeutic interventions using infrared, electrical stimulation, and exercise therapy can increase muscle strength, reduce spasticity, and improve functional ability in individuals with left-sided hemiparesis after stroke

Physiotherapy Interventions in Lung Cancer Patients: A Systematic Review.

Lung cancer is a very common disease and leads to a series of sequelae such as reduced lung capacity or reduced functional capacity in patients, which are associated not only with the disease itself, but also with medical treatment. Thus, physiotherapeutic interventions are needed to improve quality of life and reduce these symptoms. To find out the effects of physiotherapy on functional capacity, lung capacity, dyspnea, pain, and quality of life in lung cancer patients. A systematic review was carried out in five databases. Randomized clinical trials published between 2019-2023 were selected, in which the physiotherapeutic treatment was physical exercise and/or respiratory physiotherapy. Nine articles were included, in which the total sample consisted of 635 lung cancer patients. When combined, respiratory physiotherapy and physical exercise improved functional capacity and lung capacity (p < 0.05). Dyspnea also improved, but less significance was shown in the included studies. Multimodal physiotherapy interventions may offer benefits for some lung cancer patients, but the extent and nature of these benefits may vary depending on the intervention applied. Therefore, it would be of great interest to carry out further scientific research to support this conclusion.

Efficacy of aquatic vs land-based therapy for pain management in women with fibromyalgia: a randomised controlled trial

ObjectiveTo determine the efficacy of two physiotherapeutic interventions – aquatic therapy (AT) and land-based therapy (LBT) – for reducing pain in women with fibromyalgia. DesignSingle-blind, randomised controlled, equivalence trial. SettingFibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Multiple Chemical Sensitivity Association in A Coruña, Spain. ParticipantsForty women with fibromyalgia were assigned at random in a 1:1 manner to two groups: AT (n = 20) and LBT (n = 20). InterventionsTwo therapeutic exercise programmes, with 60-min sessions, were undertaken three times per week for 12 weeks. Sessions were carried out in groups by a trained physiotherapist. OutcomeThe primary outcome was pain intensity (visual analogue scale). The secondary outcomes were pressure pain threshold (algometer), quality of life (Revised Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire), sleep quality (Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index), fatigue (Multidimensional Fatigue Inventory) and physical ability (6-Minute Walk Test). Patients were evaluated at baseline, 12 weeks (post-treatment) and 18 weeks (follow-up). The statistical analysis was per-protocol. P < 0.05 was considered to indicate significance. Effect size was calculated. ResultsThe mean age was 50 [standard deviation (SD) 9] years, with median body mass index of 27 [interquartile range (IQR) 25–30] kg/m2 and median symptom duration of 11 (IQR 6–15) years. No differences were observed between the groups post-treatment, but differences in favour of AT were found in pain intensity [2.7 (IQR 1.5-4.9) vs 5.5 (IQR 3.3-7.6); p= 0.023; large effect, Cohen's d= 0.8; 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.1-1.5] and sleep quality [12.0 (IQR 7.3-15.3) vs 15.0 (IQR 13.0-17.0); p= 0.030; large effect, Cohen's d= 0.8; 95% CI 0.1-1.5] at follow-up. ConclusionsThe results suggest that AT is better than LBT for reducing pain intensity and improving sleep quality after 6 weeks of follow-up. AT may be a good treatment option for women with fibromyalgia. ETHICALLY MANAGING LEIGH’S SYNDROME: A CLINICAL CASE STUDY

Leigh syndrome, a rare inherited neurometabolic disorder described as subacute necrotizing encephalomyelopathy, affects the central nervous system and falls within a group of mitochondrial cytopathies involving disordered oxidative phosphorylation in the affected neural cells leading to disrupted enzyme of mitochondrial aberrations are attributed to variously inherited nDNA or mtDNA mutations The present study strives to demonstrate the efficacy, and therefore the need and ethical justification of therapeutic intervention at-least in the speech-language and swallowing realm; despite poor prognosis and the high risk of early death, in such infants through a representative case study. The case “x”, a three years old girl suffered classical cognitive, neuromotor, and linguistic regression following suspected pneumonia at 18 months (probable trigger), before which she had 10-15 words vocabulary, able to recognize body parts, follow simple verbal command. The child presented severe dystonia, hypotonia, moderate dysphagia with persistent of sucking reflexes, oromotor inadequacies, absence of spoken words, absence of receptive language except to name-calling. Intensive physiotherapeutic and speech-language intervention were initiated. Orofacial exercises, dysphagia management protocols including the compensatory approaches and dietary modifications as well as direct language therapy for increase in vocabulary were taken up. After 2 months of therapy, there were significant improvements especially in swallowing rate and strength, integration of infantile reflexes and increase in linguistic receptivity, which clearly warrants continued therapy and consideration of AAC. Profile of cardiovascular diseases and physiotherapeutic intervention in a hospital emergency service

Resumo Introdução As doenças cardiovasculares (DCV) repre-sentam a principal causa de morte global, destacando-se em internações e gastos. Diante disso, é essencial compreender as principais DCV em pacientes admitidos em serviços de emergência hospitalar e a atuação do fisioterapeuta para planejamento e direcionamento dos serviços de saúde e para denotar a participação e incentivar formações fisioterapêuticas específicas no contexto da atenção terciária. Objetivo Traçar o perfil de emergências cardiovasculares e avaliar a atuação fisioterapêutica em pacientes adultos de serviço de emergência de um hospital no interior do estado de São Paulo. Métodos Trata-se de um estudo observacional, em que foram analisadas 1.256 fichas de passagem de plantão, no período de oito meses. Os dados coletados foram idade, sexo, hipótese diagnóstica cardiovascular e tratamento fisioterapêutico realizado. Resultados Foram incluídos 75 pacientes que apresentavam o perfil de emergências cardiovasculares, sendo as mais prevalentes: insuficiência cardíaca (n = 21), síndrome corona-riana aguda (n = 14), infarto agudo do miocárdio (n = 13), bradarritmia (n = 6) e crise hipertensiva (n = 5). Em relação à atuação fisioterapêutica e suas aplicações, as mais frequentes foram manejo da ventilação mecânica invasiva (n = 34), manobras de reexpansão pulmonar (n = 17), auxílio a intubação orotraqueal (n = 17), ventila-ção mecânica não invasiva (n = 14), manobras de higiene brônquica (n = 12), cinesioterapia (n = 10) e sedestação (n = 10). Conclusão A insuficiência cardíaca e a síndrome coronária aguda foram as doenças cardiovasculares que mais ocasionaram internação no serviço de emergência hospitalar e as condutas com ênfase no aparelho respiratório foram as mais aplicadas.

Construção e validação do questionário de percepção dos Agentes Comunitários de Saúde sobre condições sensíveis à fisioterapia na Atenção Primária

Abstract Introduction Community health workers, like the physiotherapist, perform essential functions in primary health care, being an important element in the transformation of public policies. There are no reported studies investigating the knowledge of community health workers about health conditions amenable to physiotherapy intervention in primary health care. Objective To construct a questionnaire to investigate the perception of community health workers about health conditions that could be remedied by physiotherapy intervention in primary health care. Methods This was a methodological study in which it was initially an analysis matrix with the aim of encompassing the ideas contemplated in the questionnaire. To construct the instrument, a literature review was carried out, and health conditions treatable with physiotherapy in primary health care were chosen. To validate the content and appearance of the items, twelve physiotherapists specialized in primary health care judged the suitability of the items contained. The content validity index was used to determine the degree of agreement during the response analysis process. Subsequently, a semantic analysis was carried out through the understanding of the items by 15 community health workers. In the validation stage, two rounds of evaluation were carried out. Adjustments were made to 17 questions. Results The study investigated a questionnaire with 20 questions containing hypothetical situations of home visits, in which the resident's situation could or could not constitute a health risk amenable to physiotherapeutic intervention. Conclusion The community health workers perception instrument on health conditions amenable to physiotherapy intervention in primary health care proved to be valid for use in this context. The use of the instrument may contribute to the development of community health worker training programs, with the aim of facilitating team communication.

The influence of a physiotherapeutic intervention program for patients with post-COVID-19 syndrome: a quasi-experimental study

Post-COVID-19 syndrome affects patients regardless of the severity of the disease. The most common symptoms are fatigue, migraine, attention deficit, dyspnea, and depression. Physiotherapeutic intervention has been used as a strategy to aid the rehabilitation of patients. Objective: To analyze the effects of a physiotherapeutic rehabilitation program on quality of life, functional capacity, perceived exertion, perception of pain, and muscle strength in patients with post-COVID-19 syndrome. Methods: This is a quasi-experimental study with 33 participants, divided into two groups: an intervention group (IG) who received the physiotherapeutic rehabilitation program and a control group (CG) who did not. Participants were assessed for strength before and after the intervention period, using handgrip dynamometry and being assessed with a visual analog scale (VAS) for pain, the six-minute walk test (6MWT) for functional capacity, the BORG scale for exertion perception, and the SF-36 scale for quality of life. Results: A significant increase (p&lt;0.05) in quality of life was observed in the IG in the SF-36 domains of physical functioning, physical role limitations, bodily pain, and increased handgrip strength. There was a significant difference (p&lt;0.05) between the groups for perceived exertion before and after the intervention. No significant differences were found among the other variables. Conclusion: The physiotherapeutic intervention program improved the quality of life assessed with the SF-36 domains of physical functioning, physical role limitations, and bodily pain, and increased handgrip strength of patients with symptoms of post-COVID-19 syndrome.

Long-COVID: symptomatic and functional analysis post pulmonary rehabilitation

Objective: to analyze the symptomatic and functional profile of patients with long-term COVID-19 after physiotherapeutic intervention. Methods: This was an analytical-descriptive, longitudinal, prospective and quantitative study, of both sexes, with diagnostic confirmation of post-COVID-19 patients referred for pulmonary rehabilitation, after spirometry and chest computed tomography. Patients answered a sociodemographic questionnaire and were submitted to the following scales: Medical Research Council (MRC) and Functional Independence Measure (FIM) to measure the degree of dyspnea and functionality of patients. Data collection was performed using Microsoft Excel software version 2010 for descriptive statistics, with data correlation and bivariate analysis, using the R software (R Core Team) version 2019, considering a significance level of 95%, p&lt;0.05. The research was approved by the Research Ethics Committee under opinion number 4,897,987. Results: The sample consisted of 30 volunteers for COVID-19 after pulmonary rehabilitation, in which the male gender was prevalent (73%), the mean age was 53.4 years and 60% had the disease in its severe form; the first symptoms of the disease were not related to the history of hospitalization; a mild degree of dyspnea (MRC), restrictive disorders on spirometry and changes in cognitive behavior were observed in FIM category 6. Conclusion: It is inferred that the patients had a positive outcome in the long-term functional impact, however, the persistence of some symptoms was still detected. This finding highlights the need for continuous monitoring, as the post-COVID-19 syndrome premise is increasingly strengthened, causing long-term public health disorders.

Physiotherapeutic intervention in autistic children with hypotonia: Approaches, benefits and therapeutic perspectives

Autism is a pervasive developmental disorder that can be identified before the age of three. The main characteristics of behavior are repetitive and stereotyped, limitations in activities and interests, impairment in the development of verbal and non-verbal language and quantitative deficits in interaction and communication. The objective of this work is to describe a physiotherapeutic intervention in autistic children with hypotonia: approaches, benefits and therapeutic perspectives. It is characterized by a Systematic Literature Review. Physiotherapy intervention has been shown to provide substantial benefits for autistic children with hypotonia. This includes improvements in muscle strength, motor coordination, balance and posture. Furthermore, physiotherapy can contribute to improving respiratory function and mobility, facilitating children's participation in daily activities.

EFFECTIVENESS OF PHYSIOTHERAPY FOR MUSCO-SKELETAL DISORDERS AND THE ROLE OF REMOTE PHYSIOTHERAPEUTIC INTERVENTIONS

This brief study emphasizes the significance of musculoskeletal disorders treatable with physiotherapy. Physiotherapy interventions, when delivered remotely through e-Health platforms, have gained prominence as accessible and effective tools for managing musculoskeletal conditions. These interventions provide patients with valuable resources for self-management, while greatly used to improve everyones quality of life. At the same time, helping to moderate the challenges that this load can create on healthcare systems. The use of telehealth in physiotherapy offers opportunities for personalized care, continuous monitoring, and the implementation of evidence-based interventions. The relevancy of this approach is mainly noticed when put in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, where the need for remote healthcare delivery has become paramount. Telehealth allows patients to receive timely care and support while adhering to social distancing guidelines. The concept of adherence to eHealth technology in physiotherapy is crucial for ensuring the success of remote interventions. Understanding when and how patients engage with eHealth platforms can guide the development of more effective interventions. It is essential to explore factors that influence patient adherence to technology-driven physiotherapy interventions to optimize their benefits. As healthcare systems worldwide face increasing demands, the implementation of remote physiotherapeutic e-Health interventions can help alleviate the burden by offering scalable and cost-effective solutions. These interventions have the potential to reach a broader patient population and improve access to care for individuals with musculoskeletal disorders. The evaluation of the effectiveness of these remote interventions is essential to provide evidence-based guidance for their integration into clinical practice. By conducting systematic reviews and meta-analyses, researchers can contribute valuable insights into the outcomes and impact of telehealth-based physiotherapy on pain management and overall patient well-being.

Reducing sick leave, improving work ability, and quality of life in patients with mild to moderate Long COVID through psychosocial, physiotherapeutic, and nutritive supportive digital intervention (MiLoCoDaS): study protocol for a randomized controlled trial

BackgroundFollowing SARS-CoV-2 infection, a relevant proportion of patients suffer from persistent or recurring sequela, even after initially mild primary illness. Many patients experience exhaustion and fatigue, rendering them incapable of working. Long COVID exerts a substantial burden on society and the healthcare system: at least 65 million people are currently affected worldwide. The underlying pathobiology is a complex derangement in several organ systems. To date, causal pharmaceutical therapies remain elusive. Waiting lists for specialist care are long. Rapidly scalable digital interventions offering support for the frequent subgroup of patients with mild to moderate impairment from Long COVID are urgently needed. The MiLoCoDaS study compares three intensities of a potentially rapidly scalable digital intervention aiming to accelerate recovery. The overall objective is to figure out if there is a difference in the effect sizes between these modalities.MethodsThe online intervention uses a learning platform (LMS, TYPO3 framework) comprising 12 sessions of medical, psychological, physiotherapeutic, and nutritional content. The three modalities differ as follows: patient information only (sham intervention, control), information plus interactive digital workbook including practical exercises (digital intervention), and the digital workbook augmented by once-weekly online seminars and discussion groups (person and peer-contact). Eligible patients are 18–67 years old satisfying Long COVID diagnostic criteria. Patients are recruited through primary care physicians and randomly allocated. The primary endpoint is the number of sick leave days during the 6-month observation period; secondary endpoints are patient-reported symptoms, quality of life, and work ability. The study size provides a power of 80% at a type I error of < 0.05 to show an effect size of Cohen = 0.3 between the augmented and the sham intervention (N = 152 per arm, total accounting for attrition N = 600).DiscussionIf one of the two interventions is superior to providing information alone, MiLoCoDaS would provide the starting point for a rapidly scalable digital intervention for the frequent and currently underserved patient group with mild to moderate impairment from Long COVID. Several caveats pertain to the heterogeneity of Long COVID manifestation and duration prior to inclusion. It is conceivable that the possible effect of the intervention may differ across subgroups. Muscle Energy Technique Versus Dry Needling of Active Trigger Points in Quadratus Lumborum: A Comparative Study on Functional Disability in Low Back Pain

Background: Lower back pain (LBP) is a prevalent condition that significantly impacts the quality of life and mobility of individuals. Active trigger points in the quadratus lumborum muscle are a common source of LBP, often requiring effective physiotherapeutic interventions. Dry needling (DN) and Muscle Energy Techniques (METs) are two commonly used treatments, though their comparative efficacy has not been extensively studied. Objective: The study aimed to compare the effects of DN and METs on the functional disability of patients with active quadratus lumborum trigger points contributing to lower back pain. Methods: In this randomized controlled trial, 24 patients were equally divided into two groups to receive either DN or METs over a three-week period, with sessions conducted twice weekly. The Modified Oswestry Disability Index (MODI) was employed to measure functional disability at baseline, after the first, third, and sixth sessions. Repeated measures ANOVA was utilized for intra-group and inter-group comparisons. Results: Both interventions showed a decrease in MODI scores, indicating an improvement in functional disability. However, DN was significantly more effective than METs in reducing disability scores (p &lt; 0.05). Notably, no significant difference was found between the post-treatment NPRS and PPT scores within or between the groups. Conclusion: DN appears to be a more effective intervention than METs for reducing functional disability associated with active trigger points in the quadratus lumborum among LBP patients. Despite the efficacy of both treatments, DN may be prioritized as a preferred modality in clinical settings.

Resume&#x0D; The rapid spread of obesity emphasizes the relevance of studying this issue and requires a detailed investigation, justification, and development of an appropriate physiotherapeutic intervention program tailored to the individual needs of each patient. Therefore, we have decided to dedicate our research to determining the motivational factors for weight loss in these women and analyzing the indicators of their functional status before undergoing a physiotherapeutic intervention program.&#x0D; The aim of the research is to develop a comprehensive program of physiotherapeutic interventions for women with obesity based on the study of motivational factors and analysis of existing approaches to obesity treatment, as well as to evaluate its effectiveness.&#x0D; Materials and methods. The study included a theoretical analysis of scientific and methodological literature, as well as instrumental examination methods using the remote body composition measuring method BC-418MA TANITA. A total of 68 women aged between 36 and 55 years (mature age) with different degrees of obesity participated in the research. They were divided into two groups: the control group (CG, n=34) and the experimental group (EG, n=34). The control group received rehabilitation measures following the standard treatment protocol, which included dietary  №8 and physical exercises. The experimental group participated in a developed and pilot-tested physiotherapeutic intervention program, which included a complex of exercises aimed at improving the functional status of women, considering individual preferences, a modified method of dietary therapy (based on dietary table №8 according to Pevzner), and keeping a motivational journal. The study was conducted at the Sport Life fitness club in Kyiv, located at Mayakovskogo Avenue, 46, Troieshchyna district. The research course lasted for three months.&#x0D; Research results. Based on the obtained data, it is evident that both groups experienced a decrease in total body weight and a reduction in specific weight of adipose tissue by the end of the 3rd month. However, it is noteworthy that the level of BMI reduction after the developed program was significantly higher in the experimental group. After completing the course of comprehensive physical therapy, significant reductions in body mass index (BMI) were observed in both groups, with the control group showing a BMI of 29,66 ± 0,9 kg/m2 and the experimental group showing a BMI of 28,03 ± 0,5 kg/m2, (p&lt;0,05).&#x0D; Conclusions. The results of the survey of the studied group of women indicate that the vast majority of respondents – 73,0% chose the health factor as the main motivator for losing weight. For 54,4% of women, having a good appearance, especially physical attractiveness, can be achieved by correcting body weight.. The results of the conducted research give grounds for asserting that the use of the diet therapy method and kinesiotherapy exercises developed by us as part of the physical rehabilitation program developed for women of the second mature age with obesity, led to a safe reduction of body weight and the fat component, and the achievement of individually planned results of figure correction. The advantages of the developed program are confirmed by the results of own research.&#x0D;  

The Benefits of Ultrasound, Eccentric Exercise, and Neuromuscular Taping in Reducing Elbow Pain Caused by Tennis Elbow

Tennis elbow, commonly known as lateral epicondylitis, is a problem in the tendons around the elbow, which act as a driving force for the extensor muscles of the hand. Apart from tennis players, this case also often occurs in workers who use heavy equipment or perform repetitive and excessive gripping tasks, lifting, or circular arms movements. Tennis elbow is a prevalent thing for patients who seek medical help because of pain in the elbow. Tennis elbow is caused by muscle contractions in the elbow joint that occur repeatedly in sports activities such as playing badminton, doing daily activities, or other work, which gives repeated loads to the forearm muscles resulting in the appearance of pain on the outside of the elbow. This case study aims to discover the benefits of providing physiotherapy interventions in the form of Ultrasound (US), Eccentric Exercise, and Neuromuscular Taping in conditions of elbow pain due to tennis elbow. The research method used is a case study. The respondent in the study was a 23-year-old patient who was a badminton player at the Badminton UKM Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. This research was conducted six times for two weeks. Patients were evaluated using the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS). The results of physiotherapy intervention in the form of Ultrasound (US), Eccentric Exercise and Neuromuscular Taping showed a decrease in tenderness in the lateral epicondyle of the right elbow joint from 7 VAS to 3 VAS and movement pain from 7 VAS to 2 VAS. In conclusion, by providing physiotherapeutic interventions in the form of Ultrasound (US), Eccentric Exercise, and Neuromuscular Taping, there are benefits in reducing pain on the outside of the elbow against the condition of the tennis elbow.

Physiotherapeutic Interventions for Upper Cross Syndrome: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

Upper cross syndrome is a postural dysfunction that can cause a variety of upper-body musculoskeletal problems. Early detection and physiotherapy can help to prevent further complications. However, no systematic review has evaluated the effect of various physiotherapy intervention strategies to treat this syndrome. Therefore, this study aims to conduct a detailed methodological literature search of the most effective treatment strategies available for the correction of upper cross syndrome. Prospective human subject studies published in the English language that report the assessment and rehabilitation of upper cross syndrome were included. Clinical trials (randomized and non-randomized) were included when compared to a comparator, control group, and no treatment. The search was limited to human subjects and English-language articles. Outcome measures included craniovertebral angle, kyphotic angle, rounded shoulder, neck or shoulder pain, neck range of motion, electromyographic activity of neck or scapular muscles, and functional limitations. To evaluate the methodological quality of randomized controlled trials, the Cochrane collaboration tool was employed. For non-randomized studies, the Risk of Bias in Non-randomized Studies of Intervention was used. The Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluation system was used to rate the effectiveness of the evidence. A random-effect meta-analysis was performed for quantitative analysis to report significant differences based on calculated mean differences, with matching 95% confidence intervals (CIs) whenever possible. Out of the 34 potentially relevant articles, 18 were included. The postural variables including craniovertebral angle, kyphotic angle, and rounded shoulder showed a significant improvement with the physiotherapy group compared to the no-treatment group (standardized mean difference = -1.78; 95% CI = -2.68 to -0.87; p = 0.0001). Secondary outcomes such as pain and functional limitation showed a significant difference when advanced manual therapy techniques were used compared to conventional therapy (standardized mean difference = -0.71; 95% CI = -1.04 to -0.39; p< 0.0001; and standardized mean difference = -0.57; 95% CI = -1.00 to -0.14; p = 0.009, respectively). Exercise therapy was found to be beneficial in correcting postural alignment and movement patterns, while manual therapy was found to be similarly effective in pain reduction and functional improvement.

Virtual reality to improve low-back pain and pelvic pain during pregnancy: a pilot RCT for a multicenter randomized controlled trial.

A significant proportion of women experience low back and pelvic pain during and after pregnancy, which can negatively impact their daily lives. Various factors are attributed to these complaints, and many affected women do not receive adequate healthcare. However, there is evidence to support the use of different physiotherapeutic interventions to alleviate these conditions. Virtual reality is a promising complementary treatment to physiotherapy, particularly in improving pain perception and avoidance. The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of a four-week program combining VR and physiotherapy compared to standard physiotherapy in pregnant women with low back and pelvic pain, in terms of improving pain avoidance, intensity, disability, and functional level. The study also aims to investigate patient satisfaction with the VR intervention. This research will be conducted through a multi-center randomized controlled clinical trial involving pregnant patients residing in the provinces of Seville and Malaga with a diagnosis of low back and pelvic pain during pregnancy. The alternative hypothesis is that the implementation of a Virtual Reality program in combination with standard physiotherapy will result in better clinical outcomes compared to the current standard intervention, which could lead to the development of new policies and interventions for these pathologies and their consequences.
